| Anybody who whines that the proposed health care bill is too big needs to be shot. Seriously. This is a major piece of legislation, not your high school summer reading list. Just have your staff sit down and read the fucking thing.

"I hope the young hitters on the Phillies can pull it out," said Tim Salmon, a fan favorite during his 14 seasons with the Angels. "I will be rooting for the Phillies."
Here are the ages of the Phillies starting 8: Ruiz: 30 Howard: 29 Utley: 30 Feliz: 34 Rollins: 30 Ibanez: 37 Victorino: 28 Werth: 30
... so the "young hitters" on the Phillies average 31 years of age, with no Phillies hitter (starting or otherwise) below 28. And probable-DH Matt Stairs is 41. And the two youngest starting hitters in the series- Cano (27) and Cabrera (25)- are on the Yankees. As is the youngest hitter, Cervelli. Nick Swisher is 5 days older than youngest-Phillie-hitter Shane Victorino.
Related point: Ryan Howard probably spent too much time in the minors, but that doesn't affect his physical age. He is *not* a young player, just because he doesn't have that much MLB experience.

| I just got back from CVS (that's the Central Village Store, in case you're curious, because it's such a local business). I bought nothing. Why would I go to a CVS, only to buy nothing? Well, I didn't intend to. I had a shopping list. A short one. Bar soap, Drano, and an umbrella. None of these are urgent needs; I've still got some soap left, the drain is still functional enough, and my old, damaged umbrella can still keep the water off. So I walked in, went to the bathroom supplies aisle, and checked out the selection of soaps. Just kidding. There is no bathroom supplies aisle. Sure, they have bathroom supplies. They had some hand soap somewhere near the Prostitute-brand hair crystallizers. They had toothpaste and toothbrushes (next to the batteries and the Maxi Pads, obviously). But no bar soap, at least not as far as I could tell. So I asked an employee where to find it. Just kidding. There was a line at the counter, and no employees walking around. In the past, they've had a pretty poor success rate at knowing where to find some pretty basic things: "Paper towels? If we have them, they might be in aisle 10" is about the most helpful response I've ever gotten. Hardly worth waiting on line for. So I went to the Item Locator, the helpful console they have in each store to do a basic keyword search on your items and tell you where in the store they are on a handy map. I don't even have to tell you I'm kidding about that one. So I couldn't find soap. And I couldn't find Drano. I did find an umbrella, though. But I didn't buy it, because it was in the middle of fucking nowhere (next to the batteries and one of the multiple disparate soda stands). But at least, for next time, I know where to find the crayons: in the kitchen appliances section.
Moral of the story: If a customer walks into your store wanting to give you money, and you fail to make a sale, you are a dysfunctional corporate entity and deserve to be firebombed into the ground. I'd have more luck finding soap in the rubble anyway.

| All the children of Lake Wobegon may be above average, but that won't save them from terrorists.
